Fall 2021 Trip

INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, HUMOR

Mission Statement

In the interest of promoting understanding and compassion among the membership, our mission is to create a safe, harmonious and fun-loving atmosphere of adventure between generations in the hope to foster missed or lost bonds between father and son as well as other members of the group.

About us

Come see what we're all about

It all started in the spring of 1983 when five fishing buddies: Hawk Nyhammer, Bob Gibson, Willard Eggan, Bob Carling, and Calvin Anderson were planning their 5th annual fishing trip to Lake of the Woods in Canada. Willard, with a desire to introduce his son to Canadian fishing, invited Terry to join them. Terry in turn invited his good friend Lyle Hookom to go as well. The older guys didn't see them as kids but as equals with a voice. The willingness to listen and to share life's experiences opened up new worlds of understanding between generations.

Seniority

Seniority is taken into consideration in the following instances:

1) Seniority is determined by the number of previous trips each man has made.

2) The oldest men choose their sleeping quarters first

3) Men 80 years and older are exempt from Kitchen Patrol

Kitchen Patrol

A key element which makes a trip free from conflict, fun and successful is KP duty. Each man, who is not exempt, is placed on a KP duty list and shares in duties that include: cooking, cleaning, fish cleaning, firewood, etc. If your name is not on the chart for the day, don’t feel guilty about not working. However, you may volunteer to help out in any category.

Spring Trip

The group goes to Morson, Ontario in late May. This is a houseboat trip on Lake of the Woods. The group has one sign-up meeting in January and one planning meeting in April. Seniority is used if interest exceeds the limit.
All fishing limits and Governmental laws are followed and posted on lodging walls when available. When fish are caught, they are put into the group’s catch. At the end of the trip all fish are distributed equally. If a trophy fish is caught, the man who caught the fish may take it home.

Fall Trip

Leech Lake at Walker Minnesota in early September is generally the fall destination. Golf and Casino activities may be combined with fishing. The Leech Lake trip can accommodate any number of men interested in going. The group has taken trips in the fall to other locations in and out of state. While the Leech Lake destination is usually favored, an alternative trip could be arranged if the group desires. Such trips may require a limit on the number of men.
