Mixed Nuts Memorial
We realize that one day each of us will make our final cast, reel in one last fish, close our eyes and begin our eternal journey. While those who remain will be deeply saddened by our departure, they will be comforted by their memories of the mutual love, friendship and camaraderie we enjoyed.
Thus, the Mixed Nuts decided in January of 2010 to find a way to memorialize our departed friends. We decided on two different ways to eulogize and remember our fishing buddies. First, it was determined that we should list their names on the back of our cargo trailer so that all would know that these men once traveled with us. We felt that this would also keep them in our memory while we are on the road to and from a favorite fishing spot.
As a further way of honoring them, we created a plaque in their honor. The plaque will be taken on each fishing trip and prominently displayed during our time there. We know on some evenings, while relaxing after a long day pursuing the wily walleye, we will hoist a glass to our old fishing buddies and spin a tale (or two or three) to honor their memory. That's what they would have wanted and that's what helps us keep them close in our hearts.
